A passerby inspects a wrecked Mercedes Benz that was destroyed Friday evening when it hit the trailer of a truck and then struck a speed limit sign on the north exit ramp in Bethany. The driver, Scott Galinsky, 51, of Windsor Heights, Iowa, was taken by NTA ambulance to Harrison County Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Galinsky was issued a summons for careless and imprudent driving involving an accident and driving while intoxicated.
According to the Highway Patrol, the 2013 Mercedes Benz C30 was southbound on I-35 when it struck the trailer unit of a 2015 Kenworth. The vehicle traveled off the west side of the roadway onto the exit ramp at the 93-mile marker and struck a speed limit sign. Trooper M. M. Miller investigated the accident, assisted by Lieutenant S. P. Skoglund, Corporal B. R. Hilliard and Trooper T. B. Heintz and the Bethany Police Department.
