The fifth grade students at South Harrison Elementary received a special treat during their last week of school. WWII veteran Dale Mitchell served as a primary source of information to wrap up a non-fiction literature unit that was taught this year in reading.
Dale recounted his early years as a farm boy in Green City, Mo. up to his liberation on May 1,1945 from a POW camp in Moosburg, Germany to a group of about 60 students.
Students had prepared questions for the veteran and were eager to learn about his experiences during the war.
