Drama students Joey Benavides, Conner Marsh, and Ruby King will perform in the play the diviners, this weekend at South Harrison High School.

Bethany, MO: South Harrison High School Theatre Department opens this Friday with The Diviners, a powerful and moving drama set in the heart of the Great Depression. Written by Jim Leonard, Jr., this play brings the struggles, faith, and resilience of a small Indiana town to life. The Diviners follows Buddy Layman (Conner Marsh), a young boy with a rare gift for sensing water, and C.C. Showers (Joey Benavedes), a former preacher searching for purpose. Alongside them, Buddy’s sister Jennie May Layman (Ruby King) and their father Ferris (Uriah Marshall) strive to make ends meet, while townspeople like Norma Henshaw (Haidyn Umphry), Darlene Henshaw (Alayden Crawford), Goldie Short (Sonya Boyd), Basil Bennett (Rudy Updegraff), Luella Bennett (Alexandria Easton), Melvin Wilder (Jacob Cookson), and Dewey Maples (Ian Moad) navigate their own hardships.
