Harrison County, MO: The annual Independence Day parade will be held on Monday, July 4, near Allen Park in Bethany.
The Bethany Area Chamber of Commerce finalized plans for the parade at its monthly meeting last Tuesday in the Chamber office.
The parade will be preceded by refreshments and contests in the parking lot of the First Baptist Church. The parade starts at 3 p.m. in front of the former home of Bill and Liz Hogan, who started the impromptu parade several years ago with a group of Bill’s Army buddies.
The parade will head west from the Hogan home to the Square and then will proceed down Main Street to the park before returning to Oakland.
The city’s fireworks display will begin at dark on Saturday, July 2, at the Northwest Missouri State Fairgrounds.
New Hampton: The New Hampton Volunteer Firemen will be holding their 56th anniversary firemen’s breakfast on Monday, July 4, at the fire station.
Breakfast will be served from 6 a.m. to 10 am. Proceeds will go to support the fire department.
Ridgeway: The Ridgeway community will be holding a parade starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, on Main Street. Entries will begin lining up at 10 a.m. After the parade, the Ridgeway Community Betterment Association will provide free hamburgers, hot dogs and pulled pork in the Betterment Hall and the Community Room. Ridgeway alumni will meet at 2 p.m. at the school. The Ridgeway Fire Department will put on a fireworks show at dusk.
