Bethany, MO: A fast moving fire destroyed a wood drying factory in the Amish community northwest of Bethany on Wednesday night. Bethany Fire Chief Jacob Denum said firemen were second to the factory in the 287th block of 180th Avenue at about 8:30 p.m. The owner said he had checked on the kiln about 30 minutes before he discovered the fire in the shed. Bethany, New Hampton, Ridgeway and North Harrison responded to the first. Denum said the fire was out of control when the firemen arrived.
