Bethany, MO: A committee met last week at The Gathering Place to begin planning the expanded Harrison County Fall Festival scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24, in Bethany.

The festival will incorporate the monthly Motorsports rally in downtown Bethany.

Shana Burrows, owner of HodgePodge and The Gathering Place, said the festival will have a wide range of events on Saturday.

Three dragsters from the Thunder Valley dragstrip will be on display in downtown Bethany, arranged by Dusty Ellis. The dragstrip will be hosting races on Saturday.

Josh Wilson will be coordinating a car show on the Square.

Several contests will be held during the day including a bicycle rodeo and bike safety course supervised by the Bethany Police Department.

There will be a chili cookoff coordinated by Alex Irvin and there will be apple pie and pumpkin pie contests during the day, Burrows said.

Several craft and food vendors will be setting up for the festival. There also will be a wine walk sponsored by 39th Street Liquor.

The sponsors are making arrangements for a bounce house and kids’ games and face painting will be offered at the event.

“It’s all about the kids,” Burrows said.

Ventriloquist and comedian Kevin Horn will be performing at The Gathering Place. The festival will be capped by a lighted parade at dusk on Saturday evening.
