Courthouse repairs: Two cranes were deployed on the east side of the courthouse to allow MTS Construction to replace deteriorating stone work on the face of the building. Randy Boatright, pictured on the right with John Beasley while removing stones, said three blocks weighing 750-800 pounds and eight weighing 200 pounds apiece were lifted into place. The removal of the old limestone exposed the brick structure that was used in building the courthouse in 1939. Boatright said this isn’t the largest such restoration carried out by the North Kansas City-based company. MTS once replaced 3,000 stones at a courthouse in Franklin County, Kansas.
