Students of STEM: Schools from the Harrison County and Gentry County areas gathered at the VeNue in Bethany to participate in this year’s Williford STEM Event on Wednesday, March 6. There were eight schools that participated in the event: Albany, Cainsville, Gilman City, North Harrison, Pattonsburg, Ridgeway, South Harrison, and Stanberry.Scribble scramble: Upper elementary students showcased their hand-built scribble bots for the audience, which were created to make small patterns on paper. Each student had custom made their own scribble bot and was able to produce a unique pattern.Electromagnetic aesthetic: Middle school students demonstrated their STEM project involving electromagnets. Students used a crane-like device with a magnetic end to move various metal objects around on the table.Set sail for science: Kindergarten through second grade students had the opportunity to race sail cars they had created by utilizing the breeze from a fan. There were a wide variety of car and sail designs, some so good they zoomed across the stage and off the edge on the other side. The students had a blast watching the races and racing their cars.
