Iowa: Carter Morton, the grandson of Jim and Linda Barber, is a junior at the University of Northern Iowa. Morton competed in the Missouri Valley Conference Track and Field Championships. Morton finished his day with a gold medal in the long jump with a leap of 7.54 meters, a new lifetime best. Morton returned to the field on day two with the triple jump where he again won gold with a jump of 14.75 meters. He finished his weekend with a gold medal performance in the high jump with a season best jump of 2.10 meters becoming UNI’s MVC men’s high jump champion. Morton was named Men’s Most Valuable Athlete of the meet. He was named the Men’s Most Outstanding Field Athlete.–Submitted photo
