Harrison & Daviess County, MO: The 2023-2024 basketball season came to a close last week for Harrison County. The South Harrison basketball teams both won their first round of games during the Class 3 District tournament in Trenton. The Lady Bulldogs went up against East Buchanan where they won 52 to 38. The South Harrison boys played the following day against Trenton, winning their game 60 to 45. In the second round, South Harrison faced some troubles, with both teams losing their second round games. The Lady Bulldogs lost their matchup against Bishop LeBlond on Wednesday 56 to 57, and the South Harrison boys lost their game against Lawson on Thursday 35 to 61.
North Harrison, East Harrison, and Gilman City all participated in the Class 1 District 14 tournament in Pattonsburg, but were also knocked out. The Gilman City Lady Hawks reached the finals, where they faced off against the Pattonsburg Lady Panthers on Friday, Feb. 23. The Lady Hawks put up a good fight throughout the game but the Lady Panthers came out on top with a 49 to 34 victory over the Gilman City team. The Lady Panthers were named District Champions and moved on to State this week.
