Phillipsburg, KS: Wanona Jeane Thompson passed away on November 23 at the Phillips County Rest Home in Phillipsburg, Kansas.   She was a former resident of Harrison County living with her husband of 64 years on a farm north of Eagleville. Jeane, born November 23, 1930, celebrated her 88th birthday in heaven. She was born to Esta (Polley) and Harlan Long of the Blue Ridge area. Her parents preceded her in death as did her older sister, Edythe (Everett). Jeane was united in marriage to Clinton Hale Thompson on December 24, 1948 at her parents’ home in the Blue Ridge area. He preceded her in death in 2012.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg and former member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Bethany prior to moving to Kansas. Jeane retired from several years of employment at Walmart in Bethany MO. Spending time with her family was one of her favorite pastimes. As a founding member of the Eagleville chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, she shared many great times with other members often remaining lifelong friends.   Jeane was an expert seamstress and enjoyed her rose garden and playing her keyboard.

Whether answering to Wanona, Jeane, Mom, or Grandma, her beautiful smile and happy personality will be missed by all.

She is survived by her children and spouses: Sharmon and Steve (Hagler), Randy and Julie (Wooden) and Rodger and Debbie (Hadley), one brother and wife, Duane and Marilyn Long, Eight Grandchildren and spouses, Straucie Canady, Stacey and Jackie Bailey, Sheri and Dallas Davis, Weston and Misty Thompson, Melynda and Gabe Payne, Amanda and Cole Patterson, Nicole and Eric Grady and Shelby Thompson and fifteen great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 28, at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in the Miriam Cemetery, Bethany, MO. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Miriam Cemetery in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 46, Bethany, MO 64424.
