Wanda Lee (Brantley) Goodin, 93, Princeton, MO passed away Friday, July 30, 2021 at Pearls II Eden for Elders, Princeton, MO.

     She was born on March 13, 1928 on the Brantley Farm the daughter of William J. and Mary (Pigg) Brantley.

     Wanda attended Brantley Grade School and graduated from Princeton High School in 1946. She was married on March 8, 1947, in Kansas City, Kansas to Johnnie Eldon Goodin. Johnnie preceded her in death on January 16, 1986.

     Wanda and Johnnie were the parents of three children, Mary Pearl Goodin Scurlock, Princeton, MO, Marian Lynn Goodin (Dr. David Ryan), Kansas City, MO and William Eldon II “Bill” Goodin (Bronna), Princeton, MO.

     The family led an active farm life in Washington Township southwest of Princeton. They were members of the Princeton First Christian Church, where Wanda served as elder, trustee, and janitor for many years. Wanda was Mother Advisor of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls, District Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, member of the Grand Cross of Color, C.W.F., as well as a 4-H club advisor. She was active in the Princeton Chamber of Commerce, P.H.S. Alumni Endowment, and P.H.S. Alumni, where she received the Outstanding Alumni award in 1996. Wanda was a member and past president of Chapter BY, P.E.O. and the Mercer County Republican Women.

     In 1975, Wanda was appointed by Governor Christopher Bond as the first woman to serve as judge of the Mercer County Court in the second district. In August 1986 she was elected county commissioner (formerly judge) of the first district; the first person to serve in both districts.

     On October 19, 1981, Johnnie and Wanda purchased a dress shop in Princeton and named it Wanda’s Wear. In February 1982, Johnnie and Wanda moved from their farm to Princeton. Wanda’s Wear remained in business until August 14, 2008, when Wanda sold the store.

     Wanda became a resident of Pearls II Eden for Elders in November, 2016. She enjoyed the activities and wonderful care she received.

     In addition to her children, Wanda is survived by six grandsons, Eric (Loree) Gentry, Riverside, MO, Jonathan (Meredith) Peace, Kansas City, MO, Joel (Kenzie) Peace, Kansas City, MO, John Eric Goodin (Alexis Cruciani), Kansas City, MO; Jake (Stephanie) Weaver, Princeton, MO, and Captain Blake (Captain Kaylin) Goodin, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, NC; seven great grandchildren, Josee Gentry, Riverside, MO, Johanna Goodin, Trenton, MO, Reagan Peace, Kansas City, MO, Justin and Savannah Weaver, Princeton, MO, Lucas and Tyler Peace, Kansas city, MO, Carson Cruciani, Kansas City, MO; brother and sister-in-law, Bill (Helen) Brantley, West Des Moines, IA and many relatives and friends.

     Wanda loved spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren put a sparkle in her eyes.

     In addition to her husband and parents, Wanda is preceded in death by her son-in-law, George Scurlock; nephew, Jim Brantley; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, L.D. and Lyndall Slonecker; and sister-in-law, Nadean Goodin. Wanda has been cremated under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Princeton, MO. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Princeton, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Brantley Cemetery, 424 Ballew St., Princeton, MO 64673 and/or the First Christian Church, P.O.
