Mrs. Susan Jean Lane Patten was born September 23, 1955, the fifth child of Roscoe Dale and Emma Pearl Johnston Lane. After an extended illness, she passed away April 22, 2016.
Susan was a 1973 graduate of North Harrison High School in Eagleville, Missouri. In 1974 she moved to Omaha, Nebraska, working in a variety of secretarial positions. She soon met John Francis Patten, and they were married November 7, 1976, celebrating over 39 years of marriage.
She was a member of Westside Church in Omaha. She was preceded in death by her mother.
Survivors: Husband John; Daughter Kristina (Dave) Dohmeier, Minneapolis, Minnesota; Grandson Ezra; Father Roscoe Lane of Blythedale, Missouri; Sisters, Margaret Trullinger (Ed), Afton Iowa; Nancy Baker (Jack), Grant City, Missouri; Brothers, Mick Lane, Truro, Iowa; Dan Lane (Diana), Solon, Iowa; Allan Lane (Ellen), Saint Joseph, Missouri; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Susan loved quilting, sewing, and all things crafty. She was known for making sure there was a craft to make at family gatherings. She loved to bake for others. She loved to laugh and made all things seem funny.
Susan loved to be places, like Europe, the Bahamas, San Antonio, Orlando, and most recently Saint Thomas. You shouldnāt say she loved to travel. She was known for car, air, motion, and any other sickness associated with going from one place to another.
Susan was a secretary for the Ralston Public Schools for 35 years, serving mostly at Mockingbird Elementary. She loved helping the school children and their parents. She often told stories of āa day in the life of Mrs. Patten.ā
She had a great faith and love for her Lord Jesus Christ. She knew God had truly blessed her life with many heavenly blessings. She loved her family, being a wife, mother, and grandmother.
Memorial service was held April 27 at Westlawn Hillcrest Funeral Home and Cemetery in Omaha, NE.
