Bethany, MO: Shirley Rose Gwinn, 95, of Bethany, MO passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025.
She was born on August 5, 1929, in Jameson, MO the daughter of Noel G. and Georgia (Merrifield) Scott.
Shirley graduated from Jameson High School in 1947, then attended Northwest Missouri State College before teaching at McClary Country School of Coffey, MO for a year. During this time, she met and married the love of her life, Raymond Gwinn, on February 14, 1948. They lived and farmed in the Coffey area for 49 years until Raymond’s death. Shirley then moved to Bethany, MO and lived the remainder of her life there.
She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, quilting, gardening, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Robert and Richard Scott; and son-in-law, Ben Breit.
Shirley is survived by her children, Kenneth (JoAnna) Gwinn, Hamilton, MO and Donna Sue (Robert) Keyes, Pattonsburg, MO; granddaughters, Lori (Scott) Vetere, Trimble, MO, Amy (Tim) Colwell, St. Joseph, MO, Tami Lewis, Independence, MO, Julie (Mark) Dannar, Bethany, MO, Jennifer Breit, Dawn, MO, Trisha (Jeff) Seeley, Kearney, MO; 11 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2025 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in Coffey Cemetery, Coffey, MO.
