Ridgeway, MO:  Rosanna Chandler, 89 of Ridgeway, MO passed away Sunday, December 29, 2024 at a Bethany, MO nursing home.

She was born October 19, 1935 in St. Benedict, Kansas to Edward and Johanna (Harpenau) Fangman.  She was the youngest of 4 children.  Her father passed away when she was just an infant.  Upon graduating from Catholic school, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri.  While living there, she worked at Hallmark and later at an insurance company. She also met Robert L. Chandler, who she later married on August 3, 1957.  To this union 3 children were born, Linda, Bobby and Cherie.  Cherie was just an infant when they decided to leave the city life behind and move to the tiny town of Brooklyn, Missouri.  There she was able to become a stay-at-home mom and enjoy the quieter pace of country life.

She always grew a big garden and did lots of canning.  With 3 kids growing up, it was a necessity, but it was also one of her greatest enjoyments.  She always took pride in showing guests her garden.  During deer season, there were always hunters that came up to hunt with dad and she could provide a meal for 6 extra people with no warning at all.  No one ever left her house hungry!

Mom and Dad traveled to muzzleloading shoots with their little camper and sold shooting supplies they made.  There they made a lot of new friends and reconnected with old friends.  Again, if anyone showed up at their camper at mealtime, they were welcome to join them.  They spent many a night sitting around campfires with their friends reminiscing and solving all the world’s problems!

Later in life, she loved doing word search puzzles and spending time with her grandkids.  She also always had at least 1 dog and 1 cat, sometimes more.  As her health began to fail, life was more difficult for her.  She was in Crestview for several years and that was her home when she passed away.  She was so happy to see her kids and grandkids when they came to visit.  Her happiest times were when Cherie would bring her grandkids, Lillee, Abby, and Kylee and Cherie’s dog, Tiny, to see her.  She made many friends while in Crestview and will be missed by many.

Rosanna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her siblings, her son-in-law, and her grandson, Donnie Hicks.  Left to mourn her, are her 3 children, Linda deHaas, Bobby Chandler and Cherie Chandler Newell with her husband, Bob Newell; also her grandchildren, Bradley Chandler and Shelby, and Shane deHaas and Marissa; great-grandchildren left to miss her are Bradley’s kids, Emma, Morgan, and Boyd and Cherie’s grandkids, Lillee and Abby Trent and Kylee Hicks.

Funeral and Prayer Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO.  Burial will follow in the Allen Cemetery, Eagleville, MO.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Allen Cemetery in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O. box 46, Bethany, MO  64424.  Online condolences may be left at www.robersonfuneralhome.com.
