Kirdwood, MO: Ronald Dean Robertson, 87, formerly of Harrison County, died February 23, 2023, in Kirkwood, Mo., from complications following a car accident in Kirkwood in November 2022.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Floyd Robertson and Mildred Lucille Robertson (nee Gannan), and his sister Glenda Kay Stubler (nee Robertson). He leaves his wife Claire (nee Talbot); daughters Anne Bauer (Clint), Susan van Alstyne (Rob); grandchildren Jack, Nate and Luke Bauer, and Thomas and Claire van Alstyne, all of Kirkwood; and his brother Charles Joe Robertson (Patty) of Novinger, Mo. He was also a nephew, uncle, and to many cousins to mention.

Ron was born on November 23, 1935, in Blue Ridge. He attended the Harrison County schools through his third year at Bethany High School. The family moved to Kansas City before Ron’s senior year, and he graduated from Wyandotte High School there in 1954. Enlisting in the Army, he learned and then taught radar technology. His radar technician shift at McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis funded his studies at St. Louis University for an electrical engineering degree in 1965. Ron and Claire married in St. Louis in 1969 and soon headed to California to work in field and service for General Dynamics at Edwards Air Force Base, also earning an MBA. In Nashville, Tenn., he earned a master’s in electrical engineering at Vanderbilt University. Back in St. Louis by 1974, Ron worked at Emerson Electric and ESCO Electronics as a technical writer, project engineer and group manager.

Ron loved technology and b uilt and fixed home computers for fun. Genealogy was a personal passion, shared with his niece Karen Bellmer. Ron Wholeheartedly loved and supported his family and delighted in being a grandpa.

A celebration of Ron’s life took place on April 15 at Unitarian Chapel, Kirkwood, Mo. Private interment was at Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
