Bethany, MO: Rhoda Melinda Walker Thompson, 73, of Maryville, Missouri.

Rhoda Melinda Walker Thompson, the daughter of Paul G. and Rhoda (Dedrick) Walker was born March 13, 1945 in Cleveland, Ohio. She passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018 at her home in Maryville, Missouri surrounded by family and friends at the age of 73 years, 3 months and 16 days.

Rhoda graduated from Stanton High School in l962. She then attended college at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri, attaining a degree in business education. Rhoda was united in marriage to Vern Thompson in January of 1966. To this union four children were born: Paul Scott, Lisa Ruby, Richard Vern and Thomas Deeon. They raised their family at the family farm in Truro, Iowa and operated a registered Hereford cattle operation and row crop farm. Rhoda touched many lives over her 30 plus years in education in numerous schools in Missouri and Iowa. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandma. She spent her last several years spending time her children, grandchildren, and traveling the world with her loving companion Greg Hansen. Rhoda loved site seeing, attending her grandchildren’s activities, sporting events and livestock shows.

Rhoda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vern in 2008 and brother Paul Walker Jr.

Rhoda is survived by her companion, Greg Hansen of Maryville, MO; children, Paul (Kristi ) Thompson of Maryville, MO; Lisa (Shannon) Craig of Stanberry, MO; Richard (Melanie) Thompson of Omaha, NE; Thomas (Laura) Thompson of Amity, MO; 7 grandchildren: Chelsey (Wes) Phipps of Jacksonville, FL; Shaylynn, Cole and Lexi Craig of Stanberry, MO; Blake Thompson and Kate Lesmeister of Omaha, NE; Madelyn and Brynlee Thompson of Amity, MO; Ashlyn Alexander; many nieces, nephews, former students and friends. She will be missed by many.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m., at Mamrelund Lutheran Church, Stanton, IA. Burial in Mamre Cemetery, Stanton, IA, Rev. Dr. Eric Kutzli, Officiating.

Visitation with the family on Monday, July 2, 2018 at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to the SSM Hospice, Maryville, MO or Kansas City Hope Lodge.
