Blue Ridge, MO: Reverend Wayne Lee Caulkins, 90, Blue Ridge, MO passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Wright Memorial Hospital, Trenton, MO.
He was born November 28, 1927 on a farm near West Unity, Ohio to Arthur and Lillian (Swank) Caulkins. He accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior at the age of 6 in an old fashioned tent revival meeting. At the age of 18, he felt the Lord calling him into the ministry and began attending Fort Wayne Bible College in January 1946. After graduating, he married his college sweetheart, JoAnn Houser, and began a lifelong, rewarding ministry of preaching the gospel over a span of 72 years. Wayne and JoAnn, with their 4 daughters, moved to Blue Ridge, Missouri in 1965 and began their pastoring ministry at Fairview Community Church. He preached his last sermon there on July 1, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Arthur and Lillian Caulkins, wife, JoAnn Caulkins, and daughter, Sherry Welch.
Wayne is survived by his loving daughters, Gloria Caulkins, Blue Ridge, MO, Joy (Robert) Klinginsmith, Chillicothe, MO and Darla Moore, New Hamburg, Ontario Canada; sister, Elma Rupp, Archbold, OH; brother, Delmar Caulkins, Wasilla, AK; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 13 at Blue Ridge Church, Blue Ridge, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Bethany, MO. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday at the church.
