Reva Mallory Mayse, 98, of Bethany stepped into eternity on June 26, 2019 surrounded by her loving family at home.

She was born on March 19, 1921, the youngest of four children born to Minta L. (Van Gundy) and Roy C. Mallory of Corning, Mo. She was a graduate of Corning High School and Platt-Gard Business College in St. Joseph, and was employed at the Quaker Oats Company.

She married William Varner Mayse, son of Alta (Files) and Robert L. Mayse of St. Joseph, Mo. on June 14, 1941 at the Patee Park Baptist Church in St. Joseph. The young couple settled in Bethany in 1943 where Reva enjoyed being a homemaker in service to her community, as Varner established a private law practice and engaged in farming until his passing in 1987.

Reva is survived by her children, Gail M. Dolan (Rick Williams) of Cape Coral, Florida, Carol L. Ebersole of Bethany, and Mallory V. Mayse and wife Susan L. Mayse of Columbia, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Stacey (Brian) Hickie and Amy (Andy) Garrett, Atalie Ebersole, Aubree Ebersole and Brice (Erinn) Ebersole, and Emily (Justin) Boese and Elizabeth (Jason) Roland; 10 great grandchildren, Keira, Garret and Kailey Hickie, Will, Cale and Coy Ebersole, Elise and Olivia Henderson, Jack and Kate Roland; cousin Doyne Swan of Rockport; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Varner, her parents, siblings Elvina (Neil) Neff, W.C. Mallory and W.W. Mallory, and great-grandson Alex Ebersole.

Reva accepted Christ when she was only seven years old, asking Jesus to come into her heart and save her for all eternity. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Bethany, where she served in many capacities. Reva loved her community and had the heart of a servant, as she lovingly ministered to the needs of her family, neighbors and friends with home-cooked meals and warm pies, home-grown vegetables, transportation, visitation, friendship, and so much more.

Reva was a long-time member of General Federation of Women’s Club’s local Twentieth Century Club, where she served in many capacities, including three terms as president from 1955-1956 and again from 1972-1974. She was cherished by all those who knew her and will be missed by her family and treasured church and community friends. Funeral services were held on Monday, July 1 at the First Baptist Church in Bethany under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Bethany in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 46, Bethany, Mo. 64424. Online condolences may be left at www.robersonfuneralhome.com
