Mass of Christian Burial for Onofrio (Ono) Francis Monachino, Jr.,
82, of Laddonia, will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 14, 2016 at St.
John Catholic Church in Laddonia, with Father Paul Hartley and Father
Dan Merz officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Martinsburg.
    Rosary will be Friday evening at 6 p.m. with visitation to follow
until 8 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of
Bienhoff Funeral Home.
    Mr. Monachino passed away at 7:55 a.m., May 9, 2016 at his home.
    He was born January 16, 1934 in Elba, New York, the son of Onofrio
Francis Monachino, Sr. and Rose Marabella Monachino.
    He was married to Nancy Brock Jamison on January 19, 1957 in Des
Moines, Iowa and she survives.
    Other survivors include: two sons, Onofrio F. (Glenda) Monachino,
III of Plattsburg, and Ted Patrick (Amy) Monachino of Indianapolis,
Indiana; three daughters, Chris (Paul) Monachino-Perez of Raymore, Candy
(Mark) Bertels and Becky Monachino, both of Laddonia; one brother,
Joseph (Ann) Monachino of Blue Springs; one sister, Sue (Don)
Drachenberg of Batavia, NY; and six grandchildren, Katie, Mikalee,
Samuel, Michael, Natalie and Grant.
    He was preceded in death by four brothers, Sam, Paul, Pat and Butch;
and three sisters, Fe, Honeygirl, and Betty.
    Mr. Monachino was a coach, educator and administrator in the
education system  for over 40 years, having worked in Missouri schools
in the districts of Louisiana, South Callaway, South Harrison in
Bethany, Harrisonville Cass R-9,  and St. Joseph Catholic School. He had
previously worked in the education system in Iowa and New York. He was a
member of St. John’s Catholic Church. a parish council member, a member
of St. John’s Men’s Prayer Group, and a Third Degree Knight in the
Martinsburg Knights of Columbus. He was inducted into Northwest Missouri
State University  Hall of Fame in 2009 for four sports, football,
basketball, track and baseball. This is the first time anyone has been
inducted in four sports. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and
playing pitch with the boys at Schlemmers.
    Pallbearers will be Teddy Hoyt, Bob Schlemmer, Greg Stuart, Glenn
Roethemeyer, Francis Hunn, Chris Troesser, Gene Graves, and Joe
Troesser. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Dyer, Gerald Smith, Bob
Hodge, Walt Bruins, Randy Riddle, and Jim Means.
    Memorial contributions may be made to the Seminarian Education Fund
for the Diocese of Jefferson City, Mo.
