Morris G. Perkins 85, was born on May 21, 1935 to Wayne Eldon, Sr. and Bernice Jennings at Rolfe, Iowa, and went to be with the Lord on July 12, 2020 at the home with his family near his side.

Morris married June Clemenson on January 9, 1955 and to this union 4 daughters were born. Preceding him in death were parents; wife: June Perkins and two infant daughters: Ramona Joy and Rebecca Jill, two brothers: Wayne Perkins, Jr. and Marvin Perkins, Sr.

Morris helped operate a feed and hardware store, the “Perkins Custom Fertilizer” and helped his dad farm before moving from Rodman, Iowa to Ridgeway in 1968. They were lifelong farmers with hogs, cattle and crops.

Morris loved his family and always put them first. During his daughter’s years in sports, he kept the score books and time clock and never missed a game of basketball. He enjoyed his grandkids and great grandkids sports, school events and birthday parties.

Morris loved country music and encouraged everyone to play an instrument. He was self-taught to play guitar, fiddle and his very favorite the lap steel guitar. He played his lap steel in Marlins Golden Country Music show at Gentry and at rest homes, churches and jam sessions or anywhere there was music.

He drove the tour bus and was a sound man for Buddie Boswell’s Union Mill Opry and traveled with the opry show along with is daughter Roxanne. He talked and reminisced about it quite often.

He was a caregiver for his Mother from 1993-1998. After her death, he and June moved to the Plaza Apartment where they lived for almost 20 years.

After moving to town, they still enjoyed going out to the farm where Rhonda and Dennis live, and helping when he could with the hay and other farm projects and working on machinery. He was a very good mechanic.

He became a caregiver to his wife until he was unable to care for her on his own due to this own illness to multiple myolma. In October 2018 they moved in with their daughter and son-in-law, Roxanne and Marvin where he was until his death.

He is survived by his daughters: Rhonda (Dennis) Mitchell, Ridgeway and Roxanne (Marvin) Gregg, Bethany; grandchild: Candy (Jeremy) Turner, Jamesport, Ranae Shahan, Ridgeway, Clint (Megan) Mitchell, Cameron, Tony (Charlotte) Gregg, Gilman City, Brent (Amanda) Mitchell, Princeton; great grandchildren: Cameron & Avery Gregg, Carly & Cale Turner, Randa Shahan, Gracie & Reed Mitchell, Kaylea, Clay & Cohan Mitchell; brother: Shannon (Wally) Perkins, Seymour, IA; sister: Nancy Perkins Robbins, Yucaipa, CA; several nieces and nephews

Morris served time in the National Guard, was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Ridgeway Methodist Church. He set good examples for his family and was a good teacher in life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
