Ridgeway, MO: Marvin Joseph Giles, AKA “Sweetcorn”, 80, of Ridgeway, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at his family’s home in Bethany, Missouri. A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at the Lloyd Cemetery in Mt. Moriah, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorials and contributions are suggested to the Harrison County Hospice or the Lloyd Cemetery.

Marvin was born on February 17, 1944 in Harrison County, Missouri, near Mt. Moriah, to Joseph and Lois (Preston) Giles. He was thefourth of nine children. He attended school in Mt. Moriah and graduated in 1962. After graduation he enlisted and served in the United States Army. When he returned home, he worked for Harley Leazenby on his farm for many years. He later worked for the Shelter Workshop and Hilltop gas station in Bethany, Kings gas station in Eagleville, and Smithfield and PSF in Princeton. After he retired, he worked helping his brother in his automotive garage in Clarksdale.

Marvin enjoyed fishing and working on his old cars. He was a very simple and generous man who enjoyed the quiet country life.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lois Giles; sisters, Carol Brickey, Betty Lieffring, and Joanne Clayton; and brothers, Les Giles, Jim Giles, and George Giles. He is survived by his sons, Randy (Heather) Giles and Roger (Korena) Giles; grandchildren, Owen (Karrigan) Giles, Ian Giles, Tara (Eric) Milligan, Logun Chipley, and Tyler (Tony) Barrie; sisters, June Giles and Sue Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
