Marjorie Lois (Ingham) Polley 1924-2021

Ridgeway, MO: Marjorie Lois (Ingham) Polley, daughter of Gladwin and Lola (Romig) Ingham, was born south of Bethany on May 29, 1924 and departed this life on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the age of 96 years.

     She lived in the Pleasant Ridge Community until 1936 when they moved south of Ridgeway. She attended Maryville College for two years and then taught at Oak Grove and Greencastle schools for three years.

     On April 27, 1946, she was united in marriage to Paul Polley and lived south of Ridgeway all their lives on farms. To this union five children were born: Lois Kay, Larry Gene, Terry Paul, Nancy Sue, and Judy Ann. Paul preceded her in death on November 18, 2011. They were married for 65 years.

     Marjorie became a member of the Pleasant Ridge Church in 1934, Prairie Chapel Church for 14 years and then a member of the Kirkley Chapel Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for over 46 years for the Crusader Class and helped in a lot of projects for the church.

    She was a member and officer in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, VFW District 1 Chaplain, American Legion Auxiliary, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Kirkley Chapel Ladies Aid, Harrison County Community Hospital Auxiliary and Crestview Nursing Home Auxiliary. She spent many hours sewing and working for these organizations and her family. She loved gardening, canning, sewing, quilting, and reading.

     Preceded her in death are her husband, Paul Daniel Polley; parents, Gladwin in 1989 and Lola in 1991; granddaughter, Valerie VanMeter in 1990; sister, Grace Marie Meek in 1981 and her husband, Garland; two brothers, Donald in 2008 and his wife, Maxine, and Kenneth in 2016 and his wife, Grace; son-in-law, Robert Sherman in 1995; niece, Mara (Ingham) Goodwin and nephews, Wendell Ingham and Charles Meek.

     Marjorie is survived by her children, Lois Sherman, St. Joseph, Larry (Donna) Polley, Cainsville, MO, Terry (Patsy) Polley, Bethany, MO, Nancy (Rick) Salmon, Bethany, MO, and Judy Booth, Bethany, MO; grandchildren, Angela (Larry) Linthacum, Michelle (Clint) George, Ann (Kelly) Kohler, Amber Hoyle and Mike; Scott (Mona) Polley, Joseph Polley and Julie, Jeremy (Karen) VanMeter, Jackie McCrary, Clifford McCrary, Stephanie (John) Butler, Johnny (Heather) Booth, Caleb Salmon, Marissa (Christian) Mallot; great grandchildren, Cody Kohler, Naomie, Brendan, and Victoria Polley, Jacob and Ally Hoyle, Madison and Ashlyn George, Micah, Sarah, Hannah, and William Linthacum, Candice, Gerrett, and Joshua McCrary, Jessy, Jacob, Jayden, and Johnathon Butler, Jaren, Kasten, and Jansen VanMeter, Braxton and Shaylee Fortner and Brynlee and Journee Booth.

     Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 1 at Kirkley Chapel Church, Ridgeway, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in Kirkley Chapel Cemetery, Ridgeway, MO. The family will receive friends from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church and from 1:00 -5:00 p.m. Monday at the family farm.
