Mrs. Margaret J. Wooderson, age 93 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Monday, April 4, 2016 at SSM Health St. Maryās Hospital.
Margaret was born March 26, 1923 in Bethany, Mo. the daughter of Levi C. āLeeā and Letha M. (Snead) Wilkinson.Ā She was married on May 24, 1942 in Bethany, Mo. to Avery A. Wooderson who preceded her in death on August 27, 1969.
Margaret was a 1940 graduate of Bethany High School, Bethany, Mo.
A homemaker while her children were younger, Margaret had been employed with Scholastic, Inc. and later with the Missouri Division of Employment Security for over fifteen years prior to her retirement in 1988.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was the Nursery Coordinator for a number of years, which impacted the lives of numerous children.
Margaret enjoyed quilting, reading, watching wild life, and writing. She loved studying genealogy and even wrote three books, two of which were published.Ā Most importantly, she cherished time with her large family.
Survivors include: two sons, C. Paul Wooderson (wife Mary Lou) of Independence, Mo. and Stephen Wooderson (wife Kathleen) of Waconia, Minnesota; one brother, Gary Wilkinson (wife Ginger) of Overland Park, Kansas; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Wilkinson of Bethany, Mo.; eleven grandchildren, Mark Wooderson, Jeff Wooderson, Steffany Brockman (husband Mike), Paul L. Wooderson (wife Christi), Clinton Wooderson (wife Jessica), Kim Van Sickle (husband Kyle), Dana Scheppman (husband Tyler), Alexa Wooderson, Sarah Cotant (husband Andy), Hannah Wooderson, and Leah Dussold (husband John); eleven great-grandchildren, Robin Brockman (wife LeAnna), Kayla Wooderson Stefka, Mitchell Van Sickle, Nathan Wooderson, Jacob Wooderson, Maddy Lynn Van Sickle, Avery Wooderson, Ruthie Cotant, Emma Dussold, Aileen Wooderson, Anna Dussold and one great-grandson is due in August, 2016; and one great-great-grandchild, Aubrey Brockman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Avery; two sons, David Wooderson and Phillip Wooderson; two brothers, Delvin Wilkinson and Gerald āJedā Wilkinson; and one great-grandson, Joshua Cotant.
Visitation will be at the Freeman Mortuary from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2016.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Doyle Sager officiating.Ā Private committal services will be held at Miriam Cemetery in Bethany, Mo. at a later date.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church to go towards their childrenās ministry.
