Lester Clinton Tilley, 79 peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 5th at the Desert Haven Care Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Lester battled Alzheimer’s and Diabetes for the past several years. We are thankful to know he is finally at peace and no longer in pain.
Lester was born December 3, 1939 in Bethany Missouri to Earl and Mary Belle Tilley. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1961 and served as a load master on the C-130. After traveling throughout the United States after retirement Lester spent the last 12 years living in Payson, Arizona.
Lester is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Mary Belle, sister, Barbara Sanders and granddaughter Jennifer Tilley.
He is survived by his wife Wanda of 55 years, son, Greg (Amy) Tilley and granddaughter Jessica from Illinois; Stephanie, Matthew and Elizabeth and three great-grandchildren from Colorado, sister Earlene Sweeten from Kansas and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial event will be held later this summer (July) in Bethany, Missouri. In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial contributions to be donated to Alzheimer’s Research Foundation on behalf of Lester Tilley.
