EAGLEVILLE, MO: Leo J. Cox, 86 of Eagleville, MO passed away Friday, June 24, 2016 at Bethany Care Center, Bethany, MO.
Leo was born November 27, 1929 in Decatur County Ia., the son of Coy and Lucille (Hagan) Cox. He attended Lone Rock Elementary and Hatfield High School.
On April 14, 1950 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Mathes. To this union three sons were born – Terry, Kelly “Roe” and Kelvin.
Leo accepted Christ in 1955 and was a faithful member of the Church of Christ throughout his life. Leo was a farmer and took great pride in the appearance of his farm. He took good care of God’s gifts to him. Leo was honest, dependable, kept his word and was always there to help his sons. Grandchildren and great grandchildren meant so much to him and his eyes would light up when they came to visit.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John and Frank Cox and Kenny Joy; sister-in-law, Bonnie Richardson; brother-in-law, Marvin Richardson and step-mother, Pauline Thomas.
Survivors include wife, Marilyn, of the home; sons, Terry (Linda) Cox, Kelly (Kerry) Cox and Kelvin (Angie) Cox all of Eagleville, Mo; Seven grandchildren, Laren (Carrie) Cox, Korissa (Garret) Robertson, Heather (Brian) Bennett, Kelsey Moore, Kristopher Cox, Brett (Laurie) Cox and Ryan Cox; brother, Rex (Connie) Cox; sister, Rosalie (Wallace) Parman; sister, Brenda (Verlin) Phelps; sisters-in-law, Myra and Rita Kay Cox; and brother in law, Paul (Debbie) Mathes; 12 great grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, a host of step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 27 at Roberson Funeral Home, Eagleville, MO. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery, Eagleville, MO.
