Kay Smelley, age 74, of Brookfield, died Friday, October 11, 2019, at McLarney Manor in Brookfield.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 14, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Brookfield with Pastor David Blakely officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Sharon Kay, daughter of Wayne Herbert and Marjorie Faye (Severe) Shipers, was born April 20, 1945, in Daviess County, Missouri. On June 13, 1964, she married L.C. Smelley who preceded her in death on February 16, 1994.
Kay graduated from Pattonsburg High School in 1963. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Flynn and husband, Larry and Jennifer Almond and fiancé, Jason Logan all of Brookfield; five grandchildren, Whitley McKenzie and husband, Ross, Shelby Flynn, Taylor Almond, Coltin Almond and Eric Flynn; one great-granddaughter, Josephine Kay McKenzie; two brothers, Denny Shipers and wife, Bev of Pattonsburg, and Jim Shipers of Bethany; one sister-in-law, Margaret Shipers of Pattonsburg; an aunt, Dixie Stasi of Blue Springs; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Her parents; an infant son, Matthew James Smelley; her brother, Wayne “Sonny” Shipers; her sister, Peggy Teel Searcy; and sister-in-law, Beverly Shipers also preceded her in death.
