Bethany, MO: Judith L. Shipley Nelson, 76, Bethany, passed away Friday, June 2, 2017 at her home.
She was born May 13, 1941, to Elva and Mattie (Kelley) Shipley in Burlington Junction, Missouri.
Judy worked as a farm wife and mother for many years on the family ranch near Mt. Moriah. She was a licensed Real Estate Sales Associate, member of the Eastern Star and Business & Professional Women’s Club. For many years she was the family talent director for the NWMS Fair. She enjoyed bowling, playing & coaching softball, playing cards, attending horse shows and Saturday evening dancing with her husband, but she mostly enjoyed supporting and being with her family. She was a member of the Blue Ridge Christian Union Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ival Shipley & Bill Shipley and sisters Lillian Shipley, Marie Mack, Mae Forsythe & Bonnie Kempf.
Survivors include her husband Max Nelson, Bethany; sons, Todd Nelson (Tami), Hays, KS and Tony Nelson (Brenda), Bethany; grandchildren, Toni Whitmer (Benjamin), Hays, KS, Tyler Nelson, Hays, KS, Garrett Nelson, Bethany, MO and Bradley Nelson, Des Moines; great- grandson, Layne Whitmer, Hays, KS; brothers, Bert Shipley & Don Shipley and sisters, Georgia Sheridan & Terry Glasgo. She also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces & nephews and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in the Miriam Cemetery, Bethany, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home where friends may call after NOON Tuesday.
