Bethany, MO:  Joshua Quinn Eckerson 45, of Bethany, MO passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020 at his home.

     He was born November 27, 1974 in Albany, MO the son of Greg Eckerson and Debbie Wilson.

     Josh had served as Harrison County Sheriff since 2012. He attended Missouri Western Police Academy in St. Joseph, Missouri, graduating in April of 1998. He started working for the Trenton Police Department in June of 1998 to December 2004. He then moved back to Harrison County and started working for the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department in January of 2005.

     Josh’s achievements included: S.W.A.T. team member for Grundy/Trenton Police Department, K-9 handler, Major Case Squad member, NOMIS-initial response team member for the Major Case Squad, worked part time for the North Central Missouri Drug Task Force, worked part time for the NITRO Task Force (headed up by the federal department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) and was deputized as a Deputy U.S. Marshall with the task force, Tazer Instructor, Instructor for the Midwest Law Enforcement Trainers Association, 911 coordinator for Harrison County, Evidence Officer, Clandestine (meth) Drug Lab Technician, Missouri Department of Natural Resources Clandestine (meth) Drug Lab Collection Station Officer and a D.A.R.E. Instructor.

     Josh was baptized and a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Bethany, MO.

     He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold Eckerson, Larry Wilson, Beverly (Bill) Tilley and Reva Glenn.

     Survivors include his children, Gracie, Cayden, Camden and Cearstyn; their mother, Kristy; parents, Debbie (Chuck) Reed, Bethany, MO and Greg (Pam Glenn) Eckerson, Overland Park, KS; sisters, Kerri (Michael) Ward, Gilman City, MO, Whitney (Zach) Mervosh, Kansas City, MO, and Ashley Eckerson, Overland Park, KS; grandmother, Lee Eckerson, Bethany, MO, grandfather, Clark Glenn and great-grandmother, Alma Jane Simpson, Bethany, MO.

     Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12, at Immanuel Baptist Church, Bethany, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO.  Josh will be cremated following the service.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Josh Eckerson Memorial Fund to benefit his children in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O.
