Bethany, MO: Johnny E. Hammond, 79, of Bethany, MO (formerly of Princeton, MO) passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025 at a Gallatin, MO nursing home.

     Johnny was born October 24, 1945 in Trenton, Missouri, the son of Cleon F. and Kathryn E. (Axtell) Hammond. 

     On September 26, 1965, he married Alice Holmes.  She survives of the home.

     Johnny graduated from Princeton High School where he played football and was active in FFA and served as the State FFA Treasurer and earned an American Farmer Degree. He worked as sales and service manager for Eckard’s Home Improvement in Bethany, MO for 25 years.  He also sold real estate, and he started farming his parents’ farm at the age of 14 after his father’s passing until 1979.  He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bethany, MO.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Beverly Brown; his parents-in-law, S. M. “Si” and Evelyn Holmes and nephew, John Brown.

     Survivors in addition to his wife, Alice, are his sons, Sean (Jenny) Hammond and Patrick (Brandy) Hammond; grandsons, Dakota, Conner, Noah and Zach; great-grandchildren, Dexter, Beckett and Harlow; brother-in-law, Phillip (Linda) Holmes and 3 nephews.

     Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO.  Inurnment will be at a later date in Half Rock Cemetery, southeast of Princeton, MO.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Half Rock Cemetery in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O. box 46, Bethany, MO  64424.  Online condolences may be left at www.robersonfuneralhome.com.
