John MooreJohn Barry Moore, 83, of Cainsville, MO passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the home of his daughter Sheila Cracraft and Doug Stevens.

He was born September 29, 1932 in Gravity, IA the son of Noel and Ellen (Greenall) Moore.

He enlisted in the Marine Corps November 14, 1949 in San Diego, CA and was disabled on October 31, 1951. After, John worked with his grandfather Greenall in the coal mines of Melbourne, MO.

He married Mary Lou Cook January 3, 1953 in Huntsville, Arkansas. They began their married life in Kansas City, MO. To this union 2 children were born, Kim Alan Moore and Sheila Ann Cracraft.

John was employed at the Veteran’s Hospital in Kansas City where he was a surgical nurse and later became the grounds keeper and retired from VA Hospital in 1987. John and Mary then moved to Blythedale, MO where he opened a grocery store in 1989 and worked the next 11 years. John was a past commander and life time member of the American Legion Post #499, Blue Springs, MO. He was also a member of VFW, Masons and Disabled American Veterans. John loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rex Earl Moore; and nephew Joel Moore.

John is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; son, Kim (Susie) Moore; daughter, Sheila Cracraft (Doug); 6 grandchildren, Charles Moore, John Parker, Robin Stallings, Mary Bethel Cracraft, Matthew Moore and Bobbie Moore; 3 great grandchildren, Manford, Winford, and Meriweather; 2 sisters, Carolyn Miller and Kathy Keefer; 2 brothers, Bill and Mike Moore; 1 sister-in-law, Judy; 1 brother-in-law, Roy B. Miller; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 15 at Roberson Funeral Home, Eagleville, MO. Inurnment will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home where friends may call after 12:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blythedale Community Building in care of Roberson Funeral Home, PO Box 46, Eagleville, MO 64442.
