Janice E. Schoonmaker, 84, of Loudon, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on October 24, 1939 in Poughkeepsie, NY to the late James and Edna (Blackmore) Puellen.

Janice received her Masterā€™s Degree from New Paltz State Teacher College and became a teacher. She transitioned into her next role as a homemaker to care for her home and children. Janice loved assisting and teaching her children how to tend to their gardens where they learned how to grow vegetables, how to can the reaps of crops and how to compost so nothing is wasted. It was priceless and gave them education for years. Along with raising her children, Janice spent two terms on the school board so she could still make a difference in studentā€™s lives.

In 1980, Janice and her family relocated from New York to New Hampshire. She continued to stay at home with her children until they were at the age where she could stay on the sidelines and of course WATCH! Then she returned to her love of teaching through two communities in New Hampshire.

In 1988, Janice and her husband, Earl, started a new career in campgrounds in Missouri. Even though it wasnā€™t teaching, many people were educated, taught and learned from their caring words.

In 2022, her loving husband of 60 years, went to be in the arms of the lord. She then moved back to New Hampshire to see her children and grandchildren and to bounce her great grandchildren on her knee. These wishes were fulfilled in full.

Janice is survived by her four children: Earl Schoonmaker III and his wife Karen, Janice Morin, Marjorie Schoonmaker and Chris Schoonmaker; her daughter-in-law: Angela Schoonmaker; her six grandchildren: Earl IV, Allison, Nicole, Cam, Jocelyn and Connor; her four great grandchildren: Scarlet, Violet, Jayce and Nevaeh; and many friends including: Charlie and Ursula of FL, Vesta of GA, Gloria of OH, Francis, Janie, Karen, Pastor George and many more from the show-me state of MO, Linda, Putsy (Momā€™s Heart Throb) of NH, Rickey and Rick of VT.

A graveside service for Janice and her husband, Earl, will be held on September 12, 2024 in Loudon Center Cemetery, Loudon at 10AM. Pastor George Pryor of the First United Methodist Church of Bethany, MO will be officiating the service. The Roan Family Funeral Home, 167 Main Street in Pembroke assisted the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Judeā€™s Research Childrenā€™s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
