James Leslie Brough Passed away peacefully at The Roseville California Kaiser Hospital on February 23, 2018 of cardiac arrest. He was 84 years of age, born November 9, 1933.  He was the oldest child of James Kent Brough and Doris Bernice Hendren Brough. He was born on the old Brough Family farm NW of Bethany, MO. He grew up in Harrison County, and graduated from Bethany High School in 1951.
He was united in marriage to Merrlyn Bailey of Gilman City, MO on May 31, 1953, and she survives at the home.
James was drafted into the Army in 1956 and did a tour of duty in Germany. Merrlyn joined him and together they did as much traveling and photography as possible while in Europe.
After returning to the USA they located in Cortez, Colorado where James worked as a mechanic. Within a year James and his wife opened their own Automotive and industrial repair business in Moab, Utah. Life was an adventure where ever James chose to be. Â Hunting and fishing, and exploring The Canyon Lands and Colorado River Indian Cliff Dwellings and the lifelong friendships were some of his fondest memories.
In the early 1970âs James and Merrlyn moved to Grand Junction, CO. Here James made friends easily, and enjoyed hunting and fishing and exploring Jeep trails with good friends. His sales career started here and lasted over 40 years. His life skills and ability to meet people with determination to succeed at anything he did soon put him at the top of his company. He won many awards for personal achievements and for the Sales people he hired, trained, and managed in his division. Â Â Â His third and final retirement from sales and management was at age 80.
James was equally passionate about his Chow Dogs. Winsong Kennels was established I early 1980 and top winning show dogs in the breed are a legacy within the dog world today.
James was always an active members in the various Assembly of God Churches wherever he lived. He treasured his family and friends and always had time to set and visit. He and his Cousin Marie Brough enjoyed family genealogy research and spent many hours together on this project. He was planning his next travel adventure, an Amtrak train trip to Salem Oregon to visit family members and his sister Betty âJo â Weable, whom he adored.
James was preceded in death by his parents James Kent and Doris Bernice Brough, his sisters Helen Elaine Brough Pigg, and Shirley Jean Brough Miles, and Merrlynâs parents Theo and Ethel Bailey. He leaves behind his beloved wife Merrlyn, his youngest sister Betty âJoâ Brough Weable of Salem, OR, a nephew Randy Miles of Seligman, MO, and two Nieces Stephanie Weable Libby, and June Bailey Ross as well as many cousins, extended family and friends.
