James Elmer Read, 91, Coffey, MO passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021 at his home.
He was born on October 25, 1929 in Coffey, Missouri the son of Merritt Lee and Bertha Jane (Harrington) Read.
James was a graduate of Coffey High School and served in the United States Air Force. James was a member of the Western Star Lodge #15 A.F. & A.M. in Winston, MO, the Coffey Lions Club and a lifetime member of NRA.
On December 26, 1949, he married Jean Salmon in Coffey, Missouri. Jean survives of the home.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Jean, are his children, Jeri (John) Turpin, Camdenton, MO, Jeanie (Kevin) Dudley, Cross Plains, TN, Jan (Rex) Hagler, Coffey, MO, Janie Travis, Pattonsburg, MO, Jimmy Read, Pueblo, CO, Jeff Read, Coffey, MO and Joe Read, Pattonsburg, MO; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services with Masonic Rites will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 4 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in the Coffey Cemetery, Coffey, MO. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Coffey Cemetery in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 46, Bethany, MO 64424.
