Columbia, MO: Jack L. Slaughter, Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 01, 2022 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO at the age of 88.
Jack was born on April 29, 1934 in Harrison County, Bethany, MO. He was the oldest son of Olin F. and Ruth (Bacon) Slaughter.
Jack graduated from Bethany High School in 1952. He served in the Army, which included a tour of service in Germany. After being honorably discharged, he came to Columbia and attended the University of Missouri where he studied Agricultural Engineering.
In August 1959, Jack married Dottie J. Love, and they were married for 63 years. They raised four children: Jack Jr. (Juanita) Slaughter, Renee (Mark) Perrigo, Deborah (Tom) Graddy, and Shari (Brad) Yeager. They have 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He worked at Broad Building Supply for 53 years.
Jack is survived by his wife, Dottie; their four children; three brothers, Olin (Brittany), Irl (Judy), and Larry (Paula) Slaughter; a sister, Laura Gartman; and a sister-in-law, Peggy Slaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Slaughter; a brother-in-law, Wendell Gartman; and a sister-in-law, Jeanette Slaughter.
Services were held at the Rocky Fork Fellowship Church on September 9th, 2022. Interment was held at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO.
