Henry Trammell was born northwest of Eagleville, Mo., near Pawnee on March 25, 1924 to Leonard & Esther Trammell.  He had two sisters: Geraldine and Leah and one brother: Geryl Lee.  He married the love of his life Dolores on May 31, 1944 in Troy, Kansas.  They had 3 children: Larry, Jerry & Denise.

Henry joined the Navy in 1945 and served time on the destroyer USS Cogland DD606. His ship was one of the first ships into Nagaska after the Atomic bomb was dropped.

He joined the Ridgeway Opdyke American Legion Post 176 in 1945 and has spent man years placing flags on Veterans graves in area cemeteries.

He was a member of the Ridgeway Cemetery Board, also a member of the Ridgeway Methodist Church and served as a Trustee for many years.

Henry maintained road in Union and Marion townships for over 30 years.

Henry and Dolores farmed row crop and milked dairy cows. They also, raised pigs in their early years of farming.  Henry was always working. He had one of the first 2 man chain saws in the county. He sawed a lot of trees for area sawmills. He prouder himself on being able to drop a tree where he wanted it to go. It always landed where he said it was going to. In later years he could be seen on his tractor with his hay baler headed somewhere to do custom baling.

Henry loved his old cars always had a project under work’s. That’s how he met Dolores looking for car parts. From the time he was old enough to buy junk cars, he would take 2 cars and make one of them run. He restored a number of old vehicles in his life time. He enjoyed working on them and driving them. He enjoyed all the parades and car shows and looking at the other people’s cars.

In retirement they moved to town and spent over 20 winters in Mission, Texas Lemon Tree Estates. Where they made lots of wonderful friends. Over the years Henry & Dolores took lots of trips and went many places. If they wanted to see something they went and saw it.

Every time Henry and Dolores received the news they were getting a new grandchild. Henry was happiest. He loved all of his 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.  He was so proud of the 2 sets of twins that he got to spoil this summer and loved how Miss Hadlee reminded him of her Daddy.       

Henry never meet a strange.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, son: Larry; son-in-law: Wayne; sisters: Geraldine and Leah; brother: Geryl Lee.

He is survived by his wife Dolores; Son: Jerry and daughter: Denise. Grandchildren: Lisa & Randy, Lynn, David & Michelle, Derek & Katie, Ty & Niki, Tristan & Kameron, Jared & Julianne. 13 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; numerous cousin’s nieces and nephews and dear friends.

Private funeral services were held November 23, 2020 at Bethany Memorial Chapel with burial in the Ridgeway Cemetery with military honors.
