
Columbia, PA: Glenn Dale Johnson passed away on January 23, 2025 at the age of 85. He was born August 18, 1939, in Columbia, Pa., to J. Glenn and Loah Jean (Wyant) Johnson.
The family moved back to Missouri when he was 10. Glenn attended Mahaska School and South West High School. After high school Glenn moved to St. Joseph, Missouri, where he worked for Green Hills Super Market, Wyeth Hardware and Blue Town Motors. During this time he also served in the Army National Guard. Within a few years Glenn moved back to Bethany where he operated a dairy farm for a few years, later he owned a couple of business in town, until moving to the country, where he had an Appliance Store.
Glenn enjoyed boating and waterskiing during his younger years and spent many nights and weekends on the water. Later his interest turned to horses and barrel racing as he trained and sold horses that went on to be winners to several different people. He also, spent many weekends going to horse shows and barrel races with his wife Cathy. Two of his favorite horses to show was Tommy and Flicka.
During his senior years, Glenn loved to play aggravation with anyone who would come to visit. Glenn has been in the nursing home at Savannah, Missouri for the last several months.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents.
Glenn is survived by his wife: Cathy of the home; daughter Melinda Johnson, St. Joseph; step-son Shane (Amy) Tharp, Spickard; step-daughter, Angie (Brent) Adams, Spickard; sister Elaine Turner, St. Joseph, as well as many brother-in-laws & sister-in-laws, step grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be hosted by the family on February 1, 2025 at the Morris Chapel Church, Bethany with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and services at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donation to the Morris Chapel Church.
