Ridgeway, MO: Floyd James Marsh was born on July 1, 1935, in Ridgeway, MO, to Sheldon (Shack) Marsh and Sylvia, and went to be with Jesus on October 4, 2023, in the early morning hours. He had four brothers named Virgil, Lee, Alvin, and Lawrence Marsh, and five sisters named Emma Lee (Osmon), Nada (Oxford), Betty (Isakson), Dorothy (King), and Mary Ann. He had two step brothers from Sheldon’s previous marriage named Wick and Morway.
Floyd married Carolyn Joyce Templeton on June 30, 1960, and had five children: Cheryl Elaine Peugh (husband Greg); Floyd James Marsh Jr. aka Jim (wife Mary), Gary Dean Marsh, William Ollen Marsh aka Bill (wife Sandra), and Michael Wayne Marsh (deceased).
He worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation until his disability retirement in 1979.
Floyd always had hunting dogs until he was unable to take care of them any longer due to health issues. He loved to hunt deer and fish and listen to the baying hounds as they ran foxes and coyotes. He found every opportunity he could to get outside to garden, mow, or sometimes just sit in a chair on the lawn. He loved to tell stories from his childhood and loved to listen to stories in return. Floyd had a sense of humor and told jokes as often as he could get away with them and laughed at the jokes he heard from others.
Floyd was a member of the Ridgeway Assembly of God Church for many years, and loved Jesus with all his heart. He loved to hear and participate in church music, singing hymns and trying to learn to play the guitar. Floyd often told his family of the good memories from the praying, preaching, singing and the fellowship together with other church members.
During the last decade of his life, Floyd was plagued with health issues with his heart and lungs, which caused other medical complications and physical struggles for him, but he seldom complained. He spent many years taking care of his wife after she became disabled. He passed away at the Worth County Care Convalescent Center in Grant City, MO, at the age of 88.
Floyd leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Carolyn; his elder brother, Lawrence, and four of his children, Cheryl, Jim, Gary, and Bill, along with 8 beloved grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
