GILMAN CITY, MO: Everett William Burrows, 90, of Gilman City, MO passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born April 23, 1926 in Highmore, South Dakota the son of Albert William and Marie (Bonnichson) Burrows.
His family moved to Missouri in 1936 when he was 10 years old. He attended country schools and spent his childhood on the farm. He and his wife reside on the family farm today.
Everett served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He married Leontine Daniel in August, 1954. She is the daughter of Elbert and Viola Daniel. They have been married 61 years and would have celebrated their 62nd year on the 7th of August.
Upon leaving the service they moved back to Gilman City and continued farming. In 1961, Everett went into the blacksmith shop – later moving the business to the farm and establishing Burrows Machine Shop. He retired at age 65 and his sons joined him in the business and run one of the finest machine shops in Missouri. He was very proud of his boys and the business. He never met a stranger and enjoyed his many friends and customers.
Everett was a good, honest, hardworking man, always thinking of his family and wanting to make their lives better. He loved them and was so proud of them all. He enjoyed playing cards anywhere and anytime. Later he did puzzles for enjoyment.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Edith, who died at the age of 14; grandson, Nicholas; and brother-in-law, Bill Nail.
He is survived by his wife Leontine; sister, Dorothy Nail; 4 sons, Aaron Lee (Pam) Burrows, Allen (Terry) Burrows, Everett Jr. (Shana) Burrows, Dennis Eugene (Mary) Burrows; daughter, Kathrine (Scott) Mercier; special granddaughter, Connie; 13 other grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Alberta Shaw; several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 1 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery, Gilman City, MO. Friends may sign the guest book from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. There is no scheduled family visitation.
