Edith Alma Brooke Foster passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021 at a Bethany, MO nursing home.
She was born on January 17, 1923 to Ralph and Cora Brooke on a farm near Ridgeway, Missouri. When Edith was seven years old, the family moved to another farm near Coffey, Missouri. She enjoyed a happy childhood. At the age of seventeen, she found Christ and joined the Christian Church in Coffey.
Edith attended Coffey High School and graduated in 1941. While in high school, she met Darrell Foster and they were married in 1945. To this union two sons were born: Kenneth and Dale.
After World War II, the family lived in Coffey for two years, moved to McCallsburg, Iowa where they lived for seven years, and then moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1954.
In 1975, Edith became a CNA (certified nurse’s aide) and worked at Bergan Mercy Hospital until she retired. Upon retirement she relocated to Pattonsburg, Missouri to be closer to her siblings and in 2005, she moved into Crestview Home in Bethany.
Edith enjoyed travel and spending time with family and friends. From going to movies with her grandsons as “Grandma the Grandma,” backyard picnics and playtime with her granddaughter as “Grammy,” to annual family reunions, a memorable trip to Paris and London, and treasured visits and phone calls, she found joy in life.
Edith was preceded in death by her siblings: Marjorie Mendenhall (Clifford), Deane Brooke (Zerita), Crede Brooke (Madge), and Cleo Greer Grady (Truman, Glenn); and son, Dale Edward Foster.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Foster (Zandra) of Memphis, TN; grandsons, Sean Foster and Dane Foster of Omaha, NE; granddaughter, Kaci Foster of Memphis, TN; great-grandchildren, Tessa, Luca, Layla, Fox, and Nyx Foster; daughter-in-law, Paula Foster, all of Omaha, NE; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Edith Alma Brooke Foster was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 8 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 9 in Coffey Cemetery, Coffey, MO.
