Cainsville, MO: Douglas Lynn Corlett, 80, Cainsville, MO passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Cameron Regional Medical Center, Cameron, MO.
Doug was born on February 3, 1943, to Evelyn (Edwards) and Clifford Wayne Corlett in Mercer County, MO. They preceded him in death.
He was a 1961 graduate from Princeton High School. His senior year he was an honor student and the treasurer of the Princeton FFA Chapter.
After high school, Doug went to work for the state of Missouri as a land surveyor until he retired in the 90’s.
On November 7, 1980, Doug married Gracie Ward. Together they raised cattle and gardened. They would take fruits and vegetables to the Famer’s Market on weekends. Doug was very talented at woodworking and would make napkin holders and other items to sell at the markets as well. They had many dogs and cats throughout the years. Most recently, Doug had a favorite cat named Punkin, that survives of the home.
Doug was a devoted and loving husband to Gracie. May 8th 1993, Gracie suffered a medical emergency that left her in a “different” state. Doug continued to keep her at home and was her primary caregiver until her death on February 4, 2016.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Charley and Cecil Ward and sister-in-law, Pat Bridger.
Doug is survived by his sisters-in-law, Barbara Ward and Shirley Ward; brothers-in-law, Terry (Julie) Ward and Ted Bridger; several nieces and nephews, cousins, and several of the best and kindest neighbors a person could have. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 14 at Roberson Funeral Home, Princeton, MO. Burial will follow in Zoar Cemetery, Cainsville, MO.
