Grant City, MO: Dorothy May Hudy, 91, Grant City, MO (formerly of Springfield, MO) passed away Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Orilla’s Way Assisted Living, Grant City, MO.

     She was born on September 22, 1928 in Aldrich, Missouri the daughter of Edwin and Lucille (Marshall) Bean.

     She graduated from Aldrich High School.  She met and married Richard Crain with whom she had a daughter, Carmen (Crain) Willis. He preceded her in death. Later, while working for Bendix Corporation, she met and married Lee Goin and became mother to his children, Bruce Goin, Jan (Goin) Brown, and Allene (Goin) Stahl.  To this family, Dorothy and Lee added another daughter, Patty (Goin) Slaughter. Lee preceded her in death in 1982.

     Dorothy later went to work for Western Electric and then retired from there in 1984.  Dorothy and Lee enjoyed traveling, boating, and camping with various family members and friends throughout the years, including several vacations with her sister Betty to the coastal regions of the country in the later years.  Betty reports that she would drive and Dorothy would navigate on these trips because Betty was the better driver and Dorothy was the better navigator.  Dorothy was a lover of water and sun so these vacations often included beaches.  

     Dorothy remarried William Hudy.  Dorothy and William spent many years participating in country western and ballroom dancing at senior centers.  Dorothy loved to dance and could often out dance anyone on the floor at the wedding receptions she attended.  Dorothy was known and loved for her graciousness and generosity of heart.  Dorothy always had a quick smile to those she knew or hadn’t yet met.  Dorothy will be missed by all those who were fortunate enough to have known and loved her.

     She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Bruce Goin; two brothers, Marshall Bean and Terry Bean, sisters-in-law, Grace Anna Bean and Wanda Bean, and brothers-in-law, Dale Owen and Kelan Spalding.

     Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Carmen (Vernie) Willis, Patty (Tim) Slaughter, Jan Brown, and Allene (Eddie) Stahl; daughter-in-law, Joan Goin; grandchildren, Christy (Willis) Yoakum, Cheri and Gene Willis, Lisa (Willis) and Billy Wolf, Timbre Anthony, Kellie (Anthony) and Ryan Bell, Liz (Anthony) and Bryan Schenk, Matt and Marissa Goin, Andy and Rochelle Goin, Jeremy and Amber Goin, Jill (Vanmeter) Rembusch, Daniel Brown, Heather (Clevenger) and Damon Hunter, and Ashley Clevenger; 23 great grandchildren; sisters, Thelma Owen and Frank Johnson, and Betty Spalding; brother, James and Ann Bean, and numerous nieces and nephews.

     Dorothy has been cremated under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO.

     Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 27 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Inurnment will follow in Miller Cemetery, Denver, MO. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Orilla’s Way Assisted Living in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O.
