Bethany, MO: Dorothy Lee Booth left this world on October 25, 2022, at the age of 97 years while residing in Bethany, MO.
She was born in Jamesport, MO on June 8, 1925. She was the 6th of 8 children born to Willard and Bessie (Walker) Lollar.
Dorothy married the love of her life, John Booth. Dorothy and John were introduced by a friend of Johnâs and their first date was on a bright, sunny Sunday evening. Dorothy was working as a clerk for Montgomery Wards in Chillicothe at this time. John always said Dorothy said, âI wasnât going to let him get awayâ but Dorothy always said, âHe really didnât try too hard.â
They were married on a Sunday, October 22, 1950, at Dorothyâs parentsâ home east of Jamesport, MO after John had to work hard and late on Saturday getting the wheat saved.
John and Dorothy moved several times over their married years settling down on the family farm near Blue Ridge in the Gilman City area. Dorothy spent many years cutting fabric at Woolworths, Places, and finally retiring at WalMart.
To this union 5 children were born and loved by both: Barry, Cheryl, Johnna, LaJune and David.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, John; her parents; her 7 siblings and a granddaughter, Valerie.
She is survived by her 5 children, Barry (Marianna) Booth, St. Joseph, MO, Cheryl (Gary) Ray, Bethany, MO, Johnna (Randy) Carrender, Jefferson City, MO, LaJune (Rick) Kampman, Bethany, MO, David Booth, St. Joseph, MO. Also surviving are 2 brothers-in-law, Dan (Mary) Booth of Kissee Mills, MO and Jack (Shirley) Booth of Granite Bay, CA; 12 grandchildren, Ryan (Bridgette) Kampman, Ridgeway, MO, Jason (Jeana) Kampman, Gilman City, MO, Wendy (Matt) Nalle, Pattonsburg, MO, John (Heather) Booth, New Hampton, MO, Stephanie (John) Butler, Ridgeway, MO, James (Jamie) Booth, Adel, IA, Katie Booth, Ithaca, NY, Carly (Josh) Szippl, Merriam, KS, Megan Snapp, Craig, MO, Ryan (Beth) Carrender, Jefferson City, MO, Britney (Brandan) Miles, Springfield, MO, Jeremy (Karen) VanMeter, Bethany, MO; 32 great grandchildren with 2 more boys arriving soon and 4 great-great grandchildren with another one on the way and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October 29 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in Miriam Cemetery, Bethany, MO.
