Oak Grove, MO: Dean Lesslie Ragan, 60, Oak Grove, Mo., (originally from Bethany, Mo.) passed away peacefully in his sleep at a Oak Grove, Mo., nursing home on September 22, 2022.
He was born to Laverne Leslie and Marilyn Jean (Hurd) Ragan on March 17, 1962 in Bethany, Mo.
Dean attended South Harrison R-2 School in Bethany, graduating in 1980. He then enlisted in the Air Force spending 6-years as a E-4 Senior Airman, in places like Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota, Hahn Air Base in Germany and Falcon Air Force Station in Colorado. After that he spent his years as a police officer, paramedic and a 911 dispatcher, in Hamburg, Iowa, Maysville, Mo., Rockport, Mo., Bethany, Albany and Phoenix, Ariz. During his time as a police officer in Hamburg, Iowa he became a father of two wonderful daughters, Rachel and Kristin.
He will be missed by many friends and his family.
His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Rayne, Gabriel and Lilliana. He was so honored to be their grandfather.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Laverne and Marilyn and grandparents Bill and Elma (McCollum) Athay.
He is survived by his daughters Rachel Ragan, Conyer, Ga., Kristin (Tony) Nicholas, Phoenix, Ariz., brother, Jerry Ragan, Unionville, Mo., sisters, Natalie Ragan, Independence, Mo., and Angela Ragan, Bethany, Mo., nephew, Wayne (Melissa) Ragan, Unionville, Mo., nieces, Amanda Ragan, Unionville, Mo, Latuana Hatcher, Columbia, Mo., and Courtney (Dalton) Devore, Unionville, Mo., three grandchildren and 11 great nieces and nephews.
