Danny Dean Elliott, 64, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016 at his home in Lamoni, IA.
He was born February 12, 1952 in Decatur County Hospital the son of Ralph and Betty Jean (Fuller) Elliott. They preceded him in death.
Danny attended Lamoni Community Schools, graduating in 1970. He went to Auto Mechanic School in Omaha, NE and then transferred to Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny, IA specializing in Diesel Mechanics. He started his career at Boles Implement in 1972 and continued working on farm equipment through Case Power and Equipment in Lamoni and then Vetters Equipment in Osceola, Indianola, Corydon and then Mount Ayr. In March of 1997 he went to work for Decatur County Secondary Roads as a mechanic and later as a Secondary Roads Blade Operator until his retirement in January 2016.
Danny married Janet Jo Gray on November 23, 1990, by the Reverend Gary Bird in Gowrie, IA. To this union, one daughter, Jill Rene was born in 1996. Danny and Janet later divorced.
Danny loved collecting toy tractors, enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. One of his favorite places to visit with friends was at the State Line Station. Danny was also active in the community: he was a member of the Lamoni Volunteer Fire Department and Lamoni Fair Board for a number of years.
In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his sister, Dixie Diane Elliott.
Survivors include daughter, Jill; sister, Connie (Kent) Kirkpatrick; brother, Marty (Susan) Elliott, all of Lamoni, IA; nieces, Kandi (Tony) Snethen and children of Lamoni, IA, Kim (Mark) Rodgers and children, Phoenix, AZ, Katie and Tanna Matteson, Oklahoma, and Jessica Elliott, Lamoni, IA; and other relatives and a host of friends.
Danny’s family will remember him as being hard working, well respected and honest. He will be missed very much.
Danny has been cremated under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Eagleville, MO.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 7 at Roberson Funeral Home, Eagleville, MO. Inurnment will follow in Masonic Cemetery, Eagleville, MO. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
