BETHANY, MO: Charles Roy Moreland, 77, Bethany, MO passed away Monday, July 3, 2017 at a St. Joseph, MO hospital.
He was born October 11, 1939 in Las Animas, CO the son of Wallace and Lucy Elizabeth (Arnold) Moreland. They preceded him in death.
Charles graduated from Cainsville High School in 1957. On July 5, 1958 he married Patty Hamilton. She survives of the home. To this union, 3 children were born: Steve (Bonnie), Mark, and Vicki (Tod) Rodgers, all of Bethany.
Charles was mayor of Bethany from 1986-1993. He worked for Grand River Mutual for 39 years, retiring in June of 1998. He was also a longtime member of the Bethany Lions Club.
He enjoyed going to Toot-Toots every morning with his “coffee drinking buddies.” He loved to get together with the family every chance he could. His hobbies included deer and turkey hunting, fishing, playing golf, and “tinkering around” out at the farm.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Clinton, Cheryl, Selena, Damani, Paden, Ricky, Levi, and Tommy; great grandchildren, Amanda, Brooke, Autumn, Austin, Andy, Colton, and Olivia; one great-great granddaughter, Araya; sisters, Anita and Margaret; brothers, Cecil, Norman, Donnie, and Bud; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 11 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in Miriam Cemetery, Bethany, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Miriam Cemetery and/or Antioch Cemetery in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O.
