Bobby D. Barber was born in Siloam Springs, Mo., March 1, 1935.
His parents were Thelma Blondina Stanton and Elamon Howard Barber.
Bob had three siblings, an older brother Jay, a younger sister Shirley, and a younger brother Mel.
Bobby lived in Siloam Springs on a farm and raised hogs as well as some crops. His grandfather John Bunion Barber also lived on the farm with him for a period of time and they became best friends. His farmhouse was very modest with only four bedrooms, no running water, and no restroom facilities. He loved living on the farm. After his eighth grade year, his family relocated to Aurora, Colo. due to health issues that his father was facing.
He attended high school at Aurora High School. He met his future wife and mother of his children, Helen K. Nusbaum, after high school while he was working for Hested’s when he was 19. They were married the next year, and they spent the next few years moving from place to place as he was transferred from store to store with Hesteds.
While in Cheyenne, his daughter, Roxeanne K. Barber was born in 1965. Bob then decided to leave Hesteds, and had the opportunity to join State Farm Insurance as an agent, where he spent over 30 years until he retired.
In 1968, Bob and Helen’s son Dean H. Barber was. They settled in Aurora, Colo., where Bob’s insurance agency was located.
Once both children had graduated from Gateway High School, Bob and Helen worked and traveled for a few years, and finally chose to relocate to Lake Havasu City, Ariz. to enjoy retirement.
Shortly after that in 2000, Helen passed away, and Bob lost the love of his life and never remarried. He returned to Colorado in 2017 due to health reasons, and passed away on May 2, 2020, at a ripe old age of 85.
Bob lived a great life. He was a very kind, hardworking, loving person.
He was a beloved grandfather to his four grandchildren, Mason, Reece, Riley, and Maelyn, and an ideal father for Roxie and Dean, one that every kid dreams of having.
