Drag racing returned to the Thunder Valley raceway on Saturday, September 24.
The turnout exceeded the expectations of owners Doug and Rolanda Dale. People came from all over to get their chance to drag race against a complete stranger. Many people there were overheard sharing their fond memories from their childhood of watching the races. The track held a special place for many people and seeing it open again was a fun reminder of the past.
In attendance at the races Saturday were Jeanie VanMeter and members of the family. The VanMeter family started the racetrack in the 60’s. They all came out to support the races and have a fun afternoon.
This race was just for fun, but the plan is to have more races happening next year.
