South Harrison Middle School eighth grader Teagan Willis, using protective glasses, looks up in the sky as the moon passes across the face of the sun to create a partial eclipse on Monday afternoon. Other kids were lying on their backs looking at the rare phenomenon. The landscape noticeably darkened as the area experienced an 80% eclipse for the first time since 2017. Street lights in the nearby Daily addition turned on during the partial eclipse. The southeast portion of the state was in the path of the total eclipse.
The next eclipse is expected to occur 20 years from now in 2044 when these kids will be well into their adulthood.
