The St. Pius Warriors held off a stubborn South Harrison team with a second half burst to defeat the visiting Bulldogs 82-50 Tuesday night in Kansas City. South Harrison had led early in the game behind solid play by Luke Karns and Brayden Sunderman. But the Warrior defense came up with several steals that led to easy layups to take control of the game, pulling ahead 31-27 at the end of the second quarter. From there, it was all Warriors as the Bulldogs trailed 60-43 going into the final quarter. It was a tough loss for the Bulldogs who were one game away from the state quarterfinals. A large crowd followed the Bulldogs to Kansas City and packed half of the small St. Pius gymnasium. Bulldog fans snapped up all 120 tickets that were allotted to them.
